Galaxy A23 Design
Now the Samsung Galaxy A23 smartphone brings fresh looks to the A-20 series smartphones. One would expect it to resemble ! It’s nice to see some of those Samsung design hues coming down to the lower-end models. Just have our very simple triple lens set up here. You have a matte plastic finish on the back here. There is also plastic on the sides here. On the bottom, you have a headphone jack. Love to see that and the mic also. You have a type C port capable of 25W fast charging. There is also a single speaker on the right side. The volume rockers are at the top. And one of our favorites is the side-mounted fingerprint sensor. And on the top, we have another mic.
Galaxy A23 Display
Now one downside of the Samsung Galaxy A23 should you decide to grab it is the fact you get a TFT screen rather than an AMOLED display. Well, it still seems reasonably bright in everything, but you don’t get those same punchy colors. You don’t get the same sharp contrast. And because it’s not an OLED, you don’t get an always-on-display. Still, this 6.6 -inch panel is fine at 1080 x 2408 pixels. The FHD resolution keeps things pretty sharp. And yeah, this is not a 90 Hertz display. To put it simply, if you are okay with 6.6 inches, TFT, 1080 x 2408 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~400 PPI density) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection then look no further than Galaxy A23.
Galaxy A23 Cameras
There are four cameras on the back of the Samsung Galaxy A23 with a 50 MP, f/1.9, 23mm (wide), PDAF main sensor. Present here also is a 5 MP, f/2.2, (ultrawide), 1/5″, 1.12µm, 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth) and 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). When it came to daylight photos, you will get okay results. Except for a few outliers, the photos are all sharp with good dynamic range. Generally, these photos are very competitive for the price point. The Galaxy A23 records videos up to 1080p@30fps with both the main and selfie cameras. Speaking of which, this phone has an 8 MP, f/2.2, (wide) selfie shooter.
Galaxy A23 Android 12, One UI 4
What you have got running the Samsung Galaxy A23 is Android 12, One UI 4.1 launcher. One UI just brings the best of Android 12 here. For instance, the privacy features are present and correct. You can fast toggle the camera and microphone access for all apps. And when you load up an app that uses the camera or the mic, you’ll get a little indicator at the top corner. You’ve got great customization in one UI. For example, you change the wallpaper and everything as usual, but you’ll also see the new color palette option as well. This can actually change up the theme and colors based on the wallpaper you’ve got installed at the time.
The Galaxy A23 has a Qualcomm SM6225 Snapdragon 680 4G (6 nm) chipset. This one is great for day-to-day tasks and it is also pretty good with some games. It comes with these storage option 64GB 4GB RAM, 64GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM, and 128GB 8GB RAM (eMMC 5.1). Also on board is an Octa-core (4×2.4 GHz Kryo 265 Gold & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo 265 Silver) CPU and an Adreno 610 GPU.
Galaxy A23 Battery
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy A23 comes with a massive 5,000 mAh battery. We best describe its performance as the power that keeps you going all day long. Seriously though, isn’t 5000 mAh so generous? We find it is. And should you start running low, plugin, and power up with 25W Fast Charging? A 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector is present here. You also get NFC and 5.0, A2DP, LE with Samsung Galaxy A23.
